CS2 Doppler phases explained

A phase is a color variant of the Doppler or Gamma Doppler finish. Each phase is its own paint in the game, so a knife's phase is set when the knife is created and never changes. The Steam Community Market doesn't show it: every Karambit Doppler is listed as ★ Karambit | Doppler, whatever its phase. Inspect links, trading sites and Skinspect do show it.

Doppler and Gamma Doppler knives have a float range of 0.00 to 0.08, so they only come in Factory New and Minimal Wear.

Doppler has four numbered phases and three rare ones: Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl.

  Phase 1

  Dark: mostly black, with streaks of purple and blue.

  Phase 2

  The pink phase: pink and purple cover most of the blade. Usually the most sought-after numbered phase.

  Phase 3

  Blue and black with green tones and hardly any pink. Usually the most affordable phase.

• 

  Phase 4

  Mostly blue with a little purple. Next to Phase 2, the most popular numbered phase.

• Rare

  Ruby

  Solid, deep red all over.

• Rare

  Sapphire

  Solid, deep blue all over. Usually the most expensive Doppler.

  Black Pearl

  Almost black, with a purple shimmer.

Gamma Doppler is the green counterpart. Its four numbered phases mix greens with black, blue and yellow in different proportions, and its one rare phase is Emerald.

The rare phases sell for several times as much as the numbered ones: Sapphire usually costs the most, followed by Ruby and Black Pearl, and Emerald is the most valuable Gamma Doppler. Among the numbered phases, Phase 2 and Phase 4 usually cost more than Phase 1 and Phase 3.

The pattern matters too. Two knives in the same phase can look quite different, so a Phase 2 that's almost all pink or a Phase 4 that's almost all blue sells for more than an average one. And the knife counts most of all: a Phase 1 Karambit costs far more than a Phase 1 Shadow Daggers.
