How to get a CS2 inspect link

An inspect link is the link behind the “Inspect in Game…” button. It tells CS2 which item to show, so whoever opens it sees that exact skin with its wear, pattern, stickers and charms. Here is where to find one and how to open it.

From your Steam inventory

  1. In Steam, open your profile, go to Inventory and pick the Counter-Strike 2 tab.

  2. Click the item. Its details open next to the inventory.

  3. Right-click the Inspect in Game… button and choose Copy link address.

From the Steam Community Market

On the Market, every listing is a different item with its own float and pattern, so every listing has its own inspect link.

  1. Open the item's page on the Steam Community Market and scroll down to its listings.

  2. Find the listing you want. Its Inspect in Game… button shows up when you hover over or click the item.

  3. Right-click the button and choose Copy link address.

From another player's inventory or a trade offer

Public inventories work just like your own: open the player's Steam profile, go to Inventory and the Counter-Strike 2 tab, click the item and copy the link of its Inspect in Game… button. Private inventories don't show their items, so there is no link to copy.

In a trade offer, hover over an item and right-click the Inspect in Game… button in its tooltip.

From trading sites and marketplaces

Most marketplaces and trading sites show an inspect button or icon on their listings. Right-click it and copy the link address, or use the site's own Copy inspect link option if it has one.

How to open an inspect link in CS2

Click the link, or paste it into your browser's address bar, and Steam starts CS2 and shows the item.

If the game is already running, you can use the console instead: turn on the developer console in Settings → Game, open it with the ~ key and enter csgo_econ_action_preview followed by a space and everything after %20 in the link.

How to open an inspect link without the game

Paste the link into Skinspect. The item loads in the 3D viewer within seconds, with its float, pattern, stickers and charms – no Steam, no CS2 and no login, on any device with a modern browser.

Why an inspect link doesn't work

  • It's cut off. Inspect links are long, and chats and forms like to shorten them. Copy the whole link again.
  • The item has moved. Older links point to an item in one inventory or listing. Once it's traded, sold or delisted, the link leads nowhere, so copy a fresh one from the item's current owner or listing.
  • CS2 isn't installed. Opening a link in the game needs CS2 on your computer. Skinspect doesn't: paste the link here instead.
